While going door to door in Rockingham I’ve heard concerns about a new housing development being planned at Kearney Lake. The plan is for at least 9 multi-unit buildings, of between 6 to 12 stories, as shown in the image below.
District 10 residents tell me they are worried about the impact this development will have on the Maskwa Aquatic Club and on the water quality of Kearney Lake. There are also concerns about the general increase in density and traffic.
Because of Covid-19 there haven’t been any public meetings yet about the proposed development but an online community meeting will be held this fall. The plan will go to HRM council in early 2021.
I’m for more liveable, affordable and sustainable communities and I share residents’ concerns about this proposed development.
