Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes

Birch-Cove
Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes is a large wilderness area that stretches from Bayers Lake Industrial Park to Kearney Lake and beyond. As the names suggest it’s an area filled with lakes and has incredible value for recreation and conservation.
Some parcels have been protected by the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, the Province and HRM, but there is more privately-owned land that needs to be conserved to connect the area and create a complete park. This project has taken many years, and now there is concern portions of Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes will not be saved, because the edge of the wilderness area is being developed.
Yesterday I went to Bayers Lake Industrial Park–and shot this video so you could have a look: Click on the picture to view the video.
